GoCritic! Anifilm 2024
The next GoCritic! workshop in partnership with the Animation Festival Network will take place at the Anifilm International Festival of Animated Films in Liberec, Czech Republic, from 7 to 12 May, 2024. Five promising international film journalists and critics will work with tutor Vladan Petković on reviews, interviews, industry stories and essays focused on the animation scene. These articles will be published on Cineuropa and Zippy Frames.

Berenika Balcer
Berenika Balcer is a feature writer and aspiring screenwriter. While she was born, raised and is currently based in Poland, she graduated from Lancaster University with a degree in Media and Cultural Studies to then spend a year at the University of Amsterdam. In the past, she was the first Editor-in-Chief of The Lambert, the first and only Polish student media in the UK, and worked in social media and communications, as well as an editor, among other things. Currently, she publishes film analysis and reviews, facilitating her own corner of the internet, and helps at various film festivals, such as Raindance in London and Millenium Docs Against Gravity in Warsaw.
Heather Bradshaw
Heather Bradshaw is a film curator and freelance writer based in the UK with special interests in animation, women’s cinema and folklore. She has worked for many film festivals, including Edinburgh International Film Festival, Manchester Animation Festival, Indie Cork and Copenhagen Short Film Festival, as well as curating numerous programmes and competitions for Glasgow Film Festival and Glasgow Short Film Festival. Heather has also worked as a stop-motion animator in the product sector and writes animation scripts in her spare time.
Greta Mecelicaitė
A film critic based in Vilnius, Lithuania, she contributes to national cultural outlets including Literatūra ir Menas, 7 meno dienos, Kultūros barai, lfc.lt, and Kinas, covering cinema and performing arts. In addition to her work in traditional media, she has written publications on contemporary circus festivals for the online platform CircusTalk. Currently pursuing a degree in Film and Performing Arts Studies, she actively engages in workshops related to film criticism, including the Moving Images – Open Borders (MIOB) 3rd Lab of Cultural, Creative, and Festival Journalism at the 35th edition of the Trieste Film Festival and the Campus for Young Film Journalists organized as a part of the 26th edition of the Far East Film Festival in Udine.
Șerban Mark Pop
Șerban Mark Pop is an aspiring writer, critic, and poet. He is currently studying Filmology at Babeș-Bolyai University, focusing on the ethical implications of Romanian cinema. He published his award-winning debut paper in 2023, tackling the representation of mental health in Romanian cinema. He frequently collaborates with film festivals such as TIFF Romania and OneWorldRomania as a journalist or jury member. In his day-to-day, he is secretary general of the Theatre and Film Students Association while also writing poetry, with his debut poetry volume winning a national debut prize.
Gijs Suy
Gijs Suy, based in Belgium, holds a Master’s degree in Theatre and Film Studies from the University of Antwerp. His interests lie in experimental film and the boundaries between film and visual arts. In November 2023 he participated in the Moving Images: Open Borders film criticism workshop at the International Film Forum Scanorama in Vilnius. He has also published in Dutch for Belgian film outlets, including kortfilm.be.
