The Soul of a Man by Wim Wenders is the lone all-German film selected for screening in the non-competitive Special Sessions section of the 56th Cannes Film Festival (14-25 May).
Three German co-productions were selected for Competition at the 56th Cannes Film Festival (14-25 May). The Berlin-based Zero Films co-produced Father and Son by Russia’s Alexandre Sokurov with Lumen Films (France), Italy’s Mikado, and Holland’s Isabella Films.

film profile] by Lars von Trier and starring Nicole Kidman was co-produced by Cologne-based Pain Unlimited and WDR Westdeutscher Rundfunk & Arte, and received financial backing from the North Rhine Westphalia Film Foundation (NRW).
The Tulse Luper Suitcase 1 (The Moab Story) by Peter Greenaway was co-produced by Net Entertainment AG, Klaus Volkenborn and Sandor Soeth.
The German titles selected for Un Certain Regard include September by Max Färberböck, that he also co-produced with NF2, Martin Hageman of Zero Film, ZDF and Berlin-based Distant Dreams.
Kleine Freiheit, produced by Cotta Media Entertainment and Peter Stockhaus Productions and directed by Yüksel Yavuz was selected for Directors’ Fortnight.
“Cinéfondation” will screen two German titles: Am See by Ulrike von Ribbeck (DFFB and TV-City by Alberto Cuocero and Alejandro Thome (HFF – Konrad Wolf). A short documentary entitled Matrilineal by Caterina Klusemann will screen in Critics’ Week.
